Ochoa makes it official

Her voice breaking and eyes watering, Lorena Ochoa said goodbye to golf Friday in Mexico City after a career in which she reigned as No. 1 for three years, captured two majors and 27 tour victories, and was honored for four straight years as the LPGA's Tour Player of the Year. Ochoa, 28, will step away as an active player after next week's Tres Marias Championship in Morelia, Mexico. She wants to raise a family - she was married in December to Aeromexico chief executive Andres Conesa - and run her charity.

Green's comeback a success

In his comeback from a tragic accident in which his brother and girlfriend were killed, Ken Green, who had to have the lower part of his right leg amputated, partnered with Mike Reid to shoot a 5-under 67 in the opening round of the Legends of Golf in Savannah, Ga. Hofstra freshman forward Halil Kanacevic, who led the team in rebounding this season and was projected to start next season, has asked for permission to speak with other schools, a person close to the situation said. Kanacevic averaged 8.6 points and 7.6 rebounds in coach Tom Pecora's last season at Hofstra. Hofstra complied with the request, which comes just weeks after Pecora left for Fordham and was replaced by Tim Welsh. Cornell hires Courtney
