Watney passes Johnson for Doral win

Nick Watney's birdie on the 18th hole clinched the Cadillac Championship Sunday at Doral. Watney, who overcame a two-shot deficit against third-round leader Dustin Johnson, shot a 5-under-par 67 for his third career win. Johnson (71) fell behind with a bogey on 16 and finished second, two strokes behind.

Tiger Woods shot 66, equaling his best score of the year, and tied for 10th, his first PGA Tour top 10 in nine months. Woods also found his sense of humor. "I'm putting the pieces together," he said, "and peaking right at the right time . . . for the Tavistock Cup."

He plays Monday and Tuesday in a made-for-TV exhibition.

Probing Capuano's rant against ref

NHL director of officiating Terry Gregson, in an e-mail to Newsday, confirmed the league is looking into Islanders coach Jack Capuano's criticism of the officiating in Saturday night's overtime loss to the Devils.
