Day holds on; teen 16th
Jason Day fought through a rocky final round for a 2-over-par 72, but the 22-year-old Australian got the first win of his PGA Tour career Sunday in the Byron Nelson Classic in Irving, Texas.
Jordan Spieth, 16, the U.S. Junior Amateur champion from Dallas, was within three shots of the lead on the final nine holes, but dropped back into a tie for 16th, six strokes behind.
Khan rallies
Simon Khan came from seven strokes back with a 5-under 66 to win the BMW PGA Championship in Wentworth, England, by a stroke over Fredrik Andersson Hed and Luke Donald.

Petty, France inducted
NASCAR founder Bill France Sr. and seven-time series champion Richard Petty were inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C.
Kanaan gets in
Tony Kanaan and his team, following two crashes in less than 24 hours, scrambled to get into the field for the Indy 500. The 2004 IndyCar Series champ put together a four-lap qualifying average of 224.072 mph with 30 minutes left in qualifications in Indianapolis. He will start 32nd in the 33-car field.

Red Bulls top Juventus
Jeremy Hall and Conor Chinn scored in a five-minute, second-half span and the Red Bulls routed Juventus, 3-1, in an exhibition in Harrison, N.J.
HOCKEY
Czechs world champs
Jakub Klepis scored just 20 seconds into the game and Tomas Rolinek made it 2-0 late in the second period as the Czech Republic won the hockey world championship with a 2-1 victory over Russia in Cologne, Germany.- AP
