Jimmie Johnson dominated again and won for the seventh time at Dover International Speedway Sunday. Johnson matched Richard Petty and Bobby Allison for most career victories on the 1-mile concrete track. Johnson also stretched the Hendrick Motorsports' winning streak to three. Johnson won at Darlington Raceway and Kasey Kahne won the Coca-Cola 600. Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Clint Bowyer rounded out the top five.

Lewis takes LPGA

Stacy Lewis shot even-par 71 to win the ShopRite LPGA Classic by four strokes over Katherine Hull at the Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club in Galloway Township, N.J. It was Lewis' third LPGA win and her second of 2012.

Haas captures seniors

Jay Haas finished with a 16-under 197 total to win the Principal Charity Classic by five strokes in West Des Moines, Iowa. Kirk Triplett set the course record with a 9-under 62 to finish second.

Thomas will sit out year

Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas says he'll sit out next season. "At the age of 38, I believe it is time to put my time and energies into those areas and relationships that I have neglected," Thomas said on his Facebook page. "That is why at this time, I feel the most important thing I can do in my life is to reconnect with the three F's. Friends, family and faith."

Johnson retires

Shawn Johnson's comeback has ended. The Olympic gold medalist announced her retirement, four days before the start of the U.S. championships. She has had repeated setbacks with her left knee, seriously damaged in a January 2010 ski accident. -- AP
