pleads guilty to child rape
A former New York City high school basketball coach has pleaded guilty in Boston to child sex abuse dating to the 1970s. Robert Oliva was sentenced yesterday to 5 years' probation after pleading guilty to two counts of child rape and one count of disseminating pornography to a minor. He was accused of abusing the then-14-year-old during a 1976 trip to a Yankees game in Boston. He was not one of Oliva's players but took part in a youth league in which Oliva coached.
Oliva, 66, won 549 games and five city titles in 27 seasons at Christ the King, where he coached several future NBA players. He resigned in 2009 and lives in South Carolina.

SOCCERRooney faces 2-game ban
Manchester United star Wayne Rooney could be suspended for two games after being cited for shouting an expletive directly into a television camera while celebrating a goal during a Premier League match. Rooney has apologized and has until today to challenge the English Football Association's ruling.
Chiefs' Vrabel arrested
Chiefs linebacker Mike Vrabel was arrested and charged with theft from a riverboat casino in Florence, Ind. Police said Vrabel was arrested at 5:30 a.m. and released five hours later on $600 cash bond.-- AP
Goodell: Test for HGH
Commissioner Roger Goodell said he wants to see testing for human growth hormone (HGH) included in a collective-bargaining agreement with the players. The NFLPA, which decertified March 11, has resisted testing because it requires a blood test, not a urine test.
