UConn women rally over Notre DameKelly Faris scored 20 points, including a layup with 14 seconds left, that allowed No. 2 Connecticut to escape with a 79-76 victory over host No. 13 Notre Dame Saturday. Maya Moore added 31 points for the Huskies (14-1, 4-0 Big East). Bria Hartley of North Babylon had seven points and five assists for the Huskies . . . Samantha Prahalis of Commack scored 22 points for No. 20 Ohio State, but the Buckeyes lost to host No. 21 Iowa, 89-76.
Harris scores 21 in Tennessee loss
Tobias Harris of Dix Hills scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, but Tennessee fell to host Arkansas, 68-65. The game was Tennessee's first without coach Bruce Pearl, who is suspended for the first eight conference games for misleading NCAA investigators during an ongoing probe into recruiting.
Kris Joseph scored 17 points and Brandon Triche had all 15 of his in the second half to lead No. 4 Syracuse to a 61-56 win over Seton Hall in Newark . . . Ashton Gibbs scored 19 points to lead host No. 5 Pittsburgh past Marquette, 89-81 . . . Kemba Walker made a 15-foot jumper with 5 seconds left in overtime to lift No. 8 Connecticut, 82-81, over host No. 12 Texas . . . Casey Mitchell scored 28 points and West Virginia forced 18 turnovers as it beat host No. 13 Georgetown 65-59 . . . Trey Thompkins scored 25 points as host Georgia upset No. 10 Kentucky, 77-70 . . . BASEBALLCubs make Garza deal official
The Chicago Cubs acquired righthanded pitcher Matt Garza from the Tampa Bay Rays in an eight-player trade that involved a number of prospects. The 27-year-old Garza pitched a no-hitter against Detroit last season, when he went 15-10 with a 3.91 ERA.
