GOLFHallberg beats out Couples

Gary Hallberg shot a record-setting 11-under-par 61 Sunday to win the Ensure Classic by one stroke ahead of Fred Couples in Conover, N.C. Hallberg finished at 18-under 198, tying the event record at the Rock Barn Golf and Spa and winning his first career Champions Tour title. Couples, who led the tournament after Saturday's second round, had a chance to force a playoff, but he missed an 8-foot putt for birdie on No. 18. He shot 67 and finished the three-day tournament at 199.

Haas wins in Mississippi

Bill Haas overcame five bogeys in the final round to win the Viking Classic in Madison, Miss., by three strokes. Michael Allen came as close to being a threat as anyone, tying Haas on No. 12, only to drive out of bounds on the next hole and ending up with a double bogey. He had a 71 and finished at 12 under. For Haas, son of Champions Tour player Jay Haas, it was the second win of the year. - AP

Saladino wins Nassau Invitational

Joe Saladino won the Nassau Invitational, finishing the two-round event at 3-under 137 at Nassau Country Club. He was two strokes better than runner-up Dara Lernihan of Ireland.

Bulls' Boozer breaks his hand

Bulls forward Carlos Boozer, one of Chicago's top offseason acquisitions, broke his right hand Saturday, will need surgery and could be out for two months. A team spokeswoman called the injury "non-basketball related." - AP
