Lacrosse player charged
in murder of another
A University of Virginia men's lacrosse player was charged Monday with first-degree murder in the death of a women's lacrosse player at the same school. George Huguely, 22, of Chevy Chase, Md., has been charged in the death of Yeardley Love, 22, of Cockeysville, Md., Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo said. Longo wouldn't say what lead investigators to Huguely or detail the extent of Love's injuries. He said there did not appear to be any weapons.

SBU game tonight
Stony Brook University's America East tournament semifinal lacrosse game against Vermont, originally scheduled for Wednesday night, has been moved to 7 p.m. tonight at Stony Brook's LaValle Stadium. Stony Brook, unbeaten in its five regular-season conference games and ranked No. 6 in the nation, defeated Vermont (2-3) Saturday, 16-10. The winner will play the winner of tomorrow's Albany-Maryland Baltimore County game on Saturday for the America East title and automatic NCAA Tournament berth.
COLLEGE HOOPSRice to Rutgers
A person familiar with negotiations says Robert Morris basketball coach Mike Rice has agreed to become the coach at Rutgers. The school plans to introduce Rice at a news conference later this week, the person told The Associated Press yesterday. Fred Hill resigned two weeks ago after four seasons as coach. Rutgers was 47-77 under Hill.
Duke-Butler at Izod
Duke and Butler will meet again next season, eight months after their classic national championship game. The two schools will play Dec. 4 at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J. The Blue Devils won their fourth NCAA title in Indianapolis on April 5 by beating the fan favorite Bulldogs 61-59. - AP
