Tiger takes Chevron lead with 67
For the second straight tournament, Tiger Woods is atop the leader board going into the weekend. Woods made two eagles Friday in the Chevron World Challenge in Thousand Oaks, Calif., and after a double bogey late in the second round, he had a 5-under-par 67 to take a three-shot lead over Matt Kuchar and K.J. Choi. Woods hit 5-iron off the side of the hill to 4 feet for eagle on No. 2, and another blistering iron shot on the 11th to set up an 18-foot eagle putt. Woods was at 8-under 136, the 36-hole leader for the second straight year at the tournament he hosts.
G-Mac leads in South Africa
Graeme McDowell recovered from a double-bogey seven at No. 14 to birdie two of his last three holes for a 5-under 67 and a one-shot second-round lead at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City, South Africa . . . Rory McIlroy retained a share of the lead at the Hong Kong Open after shooting 1-under 69 in the second round. He was joined at 7-under 133 by first-round co-leader Alvaro Quiros, who also had 69.

Ducks cruise into Rose Bowl
LaMichael James rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns and Darron Thomas passed for three as No. 9 Oregon defeated UCLA, 49-31, in the Pac-12 championship game in Eugene. The Ducks (11-2) earned a Rose Bowl berth. The Bruins are not bowl eligible with a 6-7 record.

Spain up 2-0 in Davis Cup final
David Ferrer put Spain on the brink of another Davis Cup title by rallying for a 6-2, 6-7 (2), 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory in Seville over Juan Martin del Potro to give the host a 2-0 lead over Argentina in the final. Rafael Nadal scored a dominant 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 win over Juan Monaco.
Williamses want Olympic gold
Serena Williams said that she and sister Venus are eager to go for their third Olympic gold together next summer after victories at the 2000 Sydney and 2008 Beijing Games. The sisters will play an exhibition match in Milan on Saturday against Francesca Schiavone and Flavia Pennetta.
Sabres' Miller back from concussion
Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller was dressed for the first time in nearly three weeks as the backup to Jhonas Enroth in the Sabres' home game against the Detroit Red Wings. Miller hasn't played since suffering a concussion when Boston's Milan Lucic bowled him over in Buffalo's loss to the Bruins on Nov. 12. He may start Saturday when the Sabres play at Nashville . . . The Los Angeles Kings have placed Mike Richards on injured reserve after the star center took a hit to the head late in the second period of the Kings' 2-1 win over Florida on Thursday night. He collided with the Panthers' Sean Bergenheim. The NHL won't pursue supplemental discipline against Bergenheim . . . St. Louis forward David Perron, out almost 13 months with a concussion, is set to return to the lineup Saturday. -- AP
