Woods knee injury sidelines him
Tiger Woods has a minor injury to his left knee and Achilles' tendon that will keep him out of the Wells Fargo Championship next week. Woods said on his website Tuesday that he hurt himself hitting a shot during the third round of the Masters. It's the fourth time he has missed a tournament because of his left knee. Woods did not say when he might return. "This is precautionary. We're not at all concerned," said Mark Steinberg, his agent at IMG. "He's just listening to his doctors, which is kind of nice. He certainly didn't listen to them before the U.S. Open in 2008." Woods won the 2008 Open, the last of his 14 majors. He trails Jack Nicklaus by four and this most recent injury calls into question his ability to catch him. Woods hasn't won a tournament since 2009.

Durkin won't call Derby, Triple Crown races
Longtime Triple Crown announcer Tom Durkin said he is stepping away from calling the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes for network television. Durkin cited the stress of the job as a major reason for the decision not to renew his contract with NBC Sports. Durkin has called the last 30 Triple Crown races for various networks and the last 13 Kentucky Derbys. NBC spokesman Adam Freifeld said a replacement will be named shortly.
"The experience I've had working with NBC Sports over the last 27 years has been the most satisfying and rewarding of my professional life,'' Durkin said in a release. "And so, it is with deep regret that I have made the decision. It was an extremely difficult decision to make and one that came after almost a year of reflection. Because of the stress of the event I felt it was not in the interest of my best health.'' Durkin will continue to serve as track announcer for Aqueduct, Belmont and Saratoga.
