Introducing the 24 inductees into Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2026

Keiron Bigby: Multi-sport standout at St. Anthony’s H.S. At Brown University set or tied five NCAA Division I football records. Sporting News All-American. Won Super Bowl XXII with Washington.
Bryan Bonin: Standout athlete at Commack H.S. and LIU-Post. Commack baseball coach (2017-21), won league, county and Long Island championships.
Mike Buck: Football standout at Sayville H.S. and University of Maine. Played in NFL with Saints, Cardinals and Dolphins.
Claude Byer: Girls basketball coach at Amityville H.S. (1979-01), won 359 games, four league, 10 sectional and three regional championships. NY State Coaches Hall of Fame. Recognized as pioneer and champion for girls athletics.
John DiClemente: Captained Central Islip H.S.’s first undefeated football team (1962). Coached Commack and Half Hollow Hills East. Returned to CI (1986), won a Long Island championship and was LI Coach of the Year (1988, 1989). Officiated for 50 years.
Ken Eriksen: Ward Melville alum and longtime softball coach at South Florida (since 1997) with nearly 1,200 victories. As Team USA coach won two World Championships, six World Cups.
John Franzone: Distinguished 40-year career in sports production, directing and in-game entertainment. Senior VP Game Presentation and Production for Tampa Bay Lightning since 2008.
Nick Galasso: There-time All-American at West Islip H.S., No. 1 lacrosse recruit (2010). finished as Long Island’s all-time leading scorer with 500 points. Played at North Carolina, then at Syracuse and was one of the nation’s top midfielders.
Les Goodman Jr.: Football standout at Port Jefferson H.S., third-round NFL draft pick (1972) by Falcons. Successful career in corporate leadership, mentorship and youth development.
Arella Guirantes: Bellport H.S. basketball star, all-state pick with more than 2,000 points, also starred with IMG Academy. Played at Texas Tech, Rutgers, and in WNBA. Currently playing in Israel. Longtime member of Puerto Rico’s national team and 2024 Olympian.
Alan Hahn: Journalist began at Newsday (1995), covered high schools, Islanders and Knicks. Knicks studio analyst at MSG Network (2011) and ESPN personality (since 2014).
Sean Farrell: Football standout at Westhampton Beach H.S., All-American at Penn State. NFL All-Rookie Team (Tampa Bay, 1982). Sporting News All-NFL (1984). Played 11 NFL seasons with Bucs, Patriots, Broncos, Seahawks.
Mike Huey: Thirty-four year career in Mattituck-Cutchogue School District as teacher, coach and school and Section Xi administrator. Longtime Suffolk County Boys Soccer Chairman, member state Soccer Hall of Fame.
Keith Kinkaid: Ten-year NHL goalie from Sachem H.S.. Played for Devils, Canadiens, Rangers, Bruins and Avalanche.
Monika Kost: Three-sport standout at Lindenhurst H.S. is all-time leading scorer in firls basketball. New York State’s Miss Basketball and Gatorade State Player of the Year (1987). Played at Duke. Olympic gold medalist in Team Handball (1984). Longtime girls basketball official.
Nina Kuscsik: Distance runner from South Huntington, first woman to win Boston Marathon (1972) and only woman to run in first NYC Marathon.
Horace McGarity: Babylon native, a founding figure of baseball in Italy and pioneer of the sport’s international growth. Posthumously inducted into Italian Baseball Hall of Fame (2005).
Kerrigan Miller: Standout lacrosse player at Bayport-Blue Point, All-American multiple All-County and All-Long Island selections. Two-time college All-American at USC. Coach at Penn State.
North Lindenhurst Piston Knockers FD Drill Team: Has represented community for more than 60 years. Members are also emergency fire and rescue responders. Won seven state Drill Team Championships.
Jamie Ortega: From Centereach, all-time great women’s college lacrosse player, five-time All-American at North Carolina (2018-22) second-most career points in NCAA history. New York State’s all-time scoring leader.
Steve Rebholz: Standout athlete at Copiague H.S.. Among Hofstra’s all-time best basketball players. Long Island Surf’s first-round pick in USBL draft. Copiague boys coach for 26 years, more than 300 wins.
Kim Ryan Scavone: One of the most accomplished softball players and coaches from Long Island, starred at Bay Shore H.S., Boston College and as college coach. Two-time state Player of the Year, two-time All-American and member of H.S. Softball Hall of Fame.
Tom Theodorakis: Director of Athletics at Army West Point. More than 20 years as college administrator, coach and athlete. Ward Melville lacrosse All-American and member of Syracuse’s national championship team (2004).
Peter Yozzo: Sayville H.S.’s first state wrestling champion (1983). National champion and all-American at Lehigh. Successful business entrepreneur and innovator.
