Islanders rally back against Caps

The Islanders became the first NHL team to win a best-of-five series after dropping the first two games, beating the Washington Capitals, 2-1, at the Cap Centre in the fifth game of their first-round playoff series. The Islanders took a 2-0 lead in the second period on goals by Anders Kallur and Brent Sutter. Billy Smith made 39 saves to preserve the lead, allowing only a second-period goal to Bob Carpenter. The Islanders, 40-34-6, won the third and fourth games at Nassau Coliseum. They lost in the next round to the Flyers, though.
