Knicks win 18th straight
The Knicks scored six points in the final 16 seconds to pull off a 106-105 win over Cincinnati, running their then-NBA record win streak to 18. Walt Frazier scored 27 points, Willis Reed had 19 and Cazzie Russell added 18 as the Knicks improved to 23-1. Frazier and co. began the streak on Oct. 24 with a 116-92 defeat of Detroit. They averaged 117 points throughout the streak and allowed an average of 102 points. The Knicks record stood until the Lakers set the current NBA mark with 33 straight victories during the 1971-72 season.
