Yanks' 14-game WS win streak snapped
Benny Agbayani's RBI-double provided the winning run as the Mets scored twice in the eighth inning of Game 3, and snapped the Yankees' record 14-game winning streak in the World Series with a 4-2 win. The Yankees last loss in a World Series came back on October 21, 1996, against Atlanta. The Yankees lost the first two games of that series, but won the next four to win the 1996 crown. The Yanks swept San Diego in 1998, Atlanta in 1999, and had won the first two games against the Mets. It would be the lone win for the Mets in the Subway Series, as the Yanks took the series in five; their fourth title in five years. Derek Jeter won the World Series MVP with a .409 average and two homers.
