Week 17 preview
If you're still playing fantasy football in Week 17, good luck and make sure you eliminate it if possible next season. There are too many obstacles to overcome. Aaron Rodgers carried many teams and it's unlikely he plays much this week. How is this fair to those teams? Since some leagues still are active, here's a preview.
Lions at Packers
All Packers starters are risky since they clinched the No. 1 seed, so bench QB Aaron Rodgers. Packers WR James Jones is the best bet of the Packers’ wideouts to play the most snaps. The Lions are playing for the fifth seed and an easier matchup, so expect the starters to play. They could be removed early. Kevin Smith likely won't play much since he's battling a sprained ankle.
Colts at Jaguars
Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew is a must-start as he goes for the rushing title. Colts WRs Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon are solid WR3s in a great matchup.
Jets at Dolphins
Dolphins RB Reggie Bush didn’t practice Thursday with a knee injury and was ruled out Friday. Daniel Thomas is a sleeper.
Panthers at Saints
The Saints plan to play their starters, but San Francisco clinches the No. 2 seed with a win. Both teams play at 1 p.m. Panthers QB Cam Newton is Top 3 this week.
Bears at Vikings
Bears RB Kahlil Bell was very impressive last week, rushing for 121 yards on 23 carries and caught four passes for 38 yards. Another heavy workload is in store making him an excellent start. In the three games Vikings RB Adrian Peterson missed, Toby Gerhart averaged 23.3 touches and 101 total yards. Start him.
Bills at Patriots
The Patriots are going for the No. 1 seed. Start them as usual. Bills RB C.J. Spiller has impressed. He has topped 100 total yards in three of the last four games and gets a terrible Patriots defense. Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is a borderline QB1.
Titans at Texans
Titans RB Chris Johnson is risky with a sprained ankle. He has just four TDs this season. Roll with Titans’ TE Jared Cook, who has topped 100 yards receiving the last two games.
Redskins at Eagles
Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin showed he’s healthy last week with five catches for 72 yards with a TD last week. Start him.
49ers at Rams
49ers WR Michael Crabtree has at least 11 points in a PPR league in five of the last six games and has a good matchup.
Buccaneers at Falcons
The Falcons play at 4:15 p.m. and if the Lions win at 1 p.m., the Falcons have nothing to play for. Even if Falcons WRs Roddy White and Julio Jones depart early, they can still put up numbers against an awful Buccaneers defense. Still, most of the Falcons are risky plays.
Seahawks at Cardinals
Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch has scored a TD in 11 straight games. He’s a must-start.
Chargers at Raiders
Raiders RB Michael Bush has at least 20 touches in seven of the last eight games and is a RB1. Chargers RB Ryan Mathews has been very good and gets the No. 27 defense against the run.
Chiefs at Broncos
If you’re worried about a QB not playing the whole game, Chiefs QB Kyle Orton is a solid replacement. He has 599 yards passing in two games with his new team.
Steelers at Browns
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is supposed to play some snaps. Don’t play him. That means another big workload for RB Rashard Mendenhall. Browns RB Peyton Hillis is running well and is a low-end RB2.
Ravens at Bengals
Despite a quiet game last week where WR A.J. Green played through a shoulder injury, Green is a good play in a critical game for the Bengals.
Cowboys at Giants
With the division on the line, use players from this game, including Cowboys RB Felix Jones, who should get a lot of touches.
