Carnival is amping up the fun factor at sea. The cruise line has announced a new $500 million initiative to bring more merriment aboard its ships.
With Fun Ship 2.0, Carnival combines forces with names synonymous with good times: George Lopez is the new creative director for comedy; Food Network star Guy Fieri will develop Guy's Burger Joint; video game manufacturer EA Sports will create the first video sports bar at sea; and Hasbro will present game shows based on its line of classic diversions. DJ Irie, who has toured with Jamie Foxx and spun for the Miami Heat, will be the official DJ of Carnival Cruise Lines.
The Carnival Liberty will be the first 2.0 ship, followed by 14 vessels through 2015. Details at carnival.com/funship2.
