SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARKING LOT

No, not street theater. This is parking lot theater. You've seen Shakespeare in the Park? Well, what about the parking lot? A troupe with love for a good pun, the Drilling Company presents "The Merry Wives of Windsor" for free in the Municipal Parking Lot at the corner of Ludlow and Broome streets in Manhattan at 8 p.m. through July 28. The lot will be in use, keeping the actors on their Elizabethan toes. Info: shakespeareintheparkinglot.com.

Saturday

4KNOTS MUSIC FESTIVAL

Think back almost two decades to Archers of Loaf's critically lauded single "Web in Front." Filled with the warm fuzzies for the indie rock band? Well yay for you: Not only are the North Carolinians back on the circuit after reuniting last year -- Merge Records re-released their catalog, though you knew that -- but they're headlining the Village Voices' free 4Knots Music Festival. Also playing the 1 to 8 p.m. show at South Street Seaport, Piers 16 and 17, are The Drums, Crocodiles, Bleached and several others. Info: microapp.villagevoice.com/4knots/2012.

KINKY

If danceable Latin rock is more your thing, the choice is clear: Head to Central Park's Rumsey Playfield. Headlining the Latin Alternative Music Conference, Mexico's Kinky -- whose new album, "Dream Machine," sees a U.S. release Tuesday -- will be joined by Argentina's Los Auténticos Decadentes, Mexico's 3Ball MTY and and Chile's DJ Raff. From 3 to 7 p.m. More: cityparksfoundation.org.

RIVERFLICKS FOR KIDS

Hudson River Park's outdoor family movie series starts with a sequel, "Kung Fu Panda 2," and continues through Aug. 24. Highlights include the 1978's "Superman, The Movie" (July 20), "Hugo" (July 27) and "The Smurfs" (Aug. 24). That's right, we saw "The Smurfs," and you should too. YOSVANY TERRY QUINTET

Every Sunday in July, catch free jazz as part of MoMA's Summergarden concert series featuring Juilliard School and Jazz at Lincoln Center performers. This week, cozy up in the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden to the Cuban-influenced sounds of alto and soprano saxophonist Yosvany Terry and his quintet, premiering a new suite, "Allegories." Enter via the gate on West 54th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues. Grab your spot when doors open at 7 p.m., and you'll be situated for the 8 show. More: moma.org.
