USTravAbility.org: Info for disabled travelers
SITE USTravAbility.org
DESCRIPTION Information for travelers with disabilities
TARGET AUDIENCE Those with disabilities who might need travel resources
BOTTOM LINE Lots of links
USTravAbility.org points out resources for people traveling with disabilities.
Put together by Travelers Aid International, USTravAbility, which went live in August, links to useful information, such as where to find free wheelchairs for day use at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Or how to make reservations for accessible space on Amtrak using TDD/TTY (a telecommunication device for the hearing-impaired).
The website, however, looks ancient because of its out-of-date format. But if you put aside your desire for Google maps and a slicker user interface, you'll find that the links usually work well. Although some of the airport links (Los Angeles, Miami) went to pages that concern amenities for people with disabilities, others (Las Vegas, San Francisco) had us search the main airport pages on our own.
