Get ready for a winter adventure. Here are five snowy spots to consider.

Ski New York

Who knew the state of New York had more than 50 ski resorts welcoming winter guests? Expect traditional experiences as well as night skiing, tubing, snowshoeing, ski schools and an array of appealing ski deals. Some of the less-explored ski areas in upstate New York’s Adirondack region include Oak Mountain, operating since 1948. You’ll find varied terrain, 22 trails, a quad chairlift, two T-bars, 22 park features, four lanes of snow tubing and miles of snowshoe trails. Titus Mountain is a family-friendly ski gem located a short drive from Plattsburgh, Lake Placid, Watertown and Northern Vermont, with terrain for all levels, and McCauley Mountain, a charming resort near the Adirondack wilderness, offers big mountain attitude with long cruisers, steep bumps and glades, and double-black diamond challengers. Holiday Valley, in Ellicottville, N.Y., serves up 60 slopes, covered by one of the top snowmaking systems in the East. The resort also features a Mountain Coaster and tubing for those looking to diversify their winter fun. Ask about the SKI NY Free for Kids Passport program.
