One driver died and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash early Saturday on the Southern State Parkway in North Valley Stream, the State Police said.

The crash occurred around 5 a.m. in the eastbound lanes just west of Exit 15, police said.

One driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the other driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threating injuries, police said. There were no passengers in either vehicle, police said.

The dead driver is Zeeshan Naeem, 36, of North Babylon. He had been driving a 2011 Ford Mustang eastbound on the Southern State, west of Exit 15A and he rear ended a 2018 Mercedes-Benz being driven by Bestrim Asllani, 37, of Jamaica, Queens.

Both vehicles left the roadway, ended up on the right shoulder and struck a tree. Naeem's Mustang also overturned. Naeem was pronounced dead at the scene; Asllani was brought to Winthrop Hospital.
