The Village of Farmingdale is getting a new hotel, just a stone's throw away from the Long Island Rail Road station.

Construction is expected to begin in May for the 85-room Home2 Suite by Hilton at what is now 120 Secatogue Ave., said Anthony Bartone, managing partner, Bartone Properties Llc.

Among the draws for visitors to the area: proximity to Bethpage State Park, Farmingdale State College, Republic Airport and an approximate one-hour train commute to Manhattan, he said.

With an expected opening in early 2012, the development will employ some 33 construction workers and 20 permanent hotel workers.

The hotel is phase one of a further mixed-use development that will include a 102-unit condominium project, 20,000 square feet of retail space and underground parking, he said.

The entire project is valued at $57 million, he said.
