Advice from Social Media Club of Long Island
Following are take-aways on the care and feeding of your online presence, this from comments by Mo Krochmal -- educator, journalist, known on Twitter as @krochmal – at this morning’s Social Media Club of Long Island’s breakfast in Westbury:
--If you don’t have a YouTube channel, look into getting one.
--Create content. Instead of worrying about guarding intellectual property, “keep doing good stuff,” and “hope you get credit for it.”
--Get serious. Do an “end-of-year report” on your social media presence, pulling in metrics on factors like number of page views, impressions etc.
--If you’re a job hunter, spend at least six hours a week on LinkedIn. If you’re not a job hunter, make that four hours a week.
As for getting a job in a social media role, Krochmal pointed to resources he collected on job titles and descriptions, skills, college and university courses and programs, other learning resources. See http://krochmal.posterous.com/
