CA wins Australia court ruling

CA Technologies, of Islandia, says an Australian court decided in its favor in a civil suit that claimed a rival company violated CA's intellectual property rights in the design of a relational database software program.

In a Wednesday news release, CA said "the Federal Court of Australia has found Independent Systems Integrators (ISI) of Sydney, Australia violated copyright laws and breached its duty of confidentiality in developing and selling a product using intellectual property (IP) from CA Technologies CA Datacom relational database management system."

In particular, CA said, the court found that the other company used CA source code without permission, a copyright violation.

CA did not say whether it is seeking monetary damages in the action. It said the legal process in Australia now moves on to its next phase, when the court is expected to issue orders necessary to implement its ruling.
