D&B Engineers and Architects PC, a Woodbury firm founded in 1965, has named Steven A. Fangmann as its new president, the company announced.

Fangmann succeeds Henry Chlupsa of Smithtown, who retired after more than 50 years at D&B. The firm, with 315 employees, had estimated 2017 gross revenue of $58 million.

“My vision throughout my career is to enhance the environment in which we live especially in regards to our water resources,” Fangmann said in an email Tuesday. D&B designs water resource recovery facilities used to protect ground and surface waters, he said.

Before joining D&B as vice president in 1996, Fangmann served as deputy commissioner of the Nassau County Department of Public Works and chief sanitary engineer and project manager for the county. In those roles he supervised wastewater and water engineering, and oversaw water pollution control plants.

The Syosset resident has served as president of the New York Water Environment Association and was elected to the NYWEA Hall of Fame in 2009.

Fangmann, whose promotion was first announced in January, will supervise the firm’s quality standards and technical and financial operations.

D&B has completed more than 1,200 projects in 28 states. Long Island municipalities use D&B’s services for solid and hazardous waste management, wastewater collection and treatment, and water supply treatment and distribution.
