Altice USA on Thursday announced a new “Economy Internet” broadband service priced at $14.99 a month with no annual contract for lower-income families and seniors.

On Long Island, Altice is piloting the service in Brentwood. The company said it will be available throughout its tri-state Optimum footprint by September 2017.

The service features download speeds of as much as 30 megabits per second and a free wireless router. It is limited to families who qualify for assistance under the National School Lunch Program and seniors under Supplemental Social Security.

Altice owns 25 percent of Newsday Media Group.
