On May 23, 2018, DeepRoot Green Infrastructure filed a patent infringement lawsuit against GreenBlue Urban. As a leading partner in the sustainable infrastructure and low impact development industry around the world, GreenBlue Urban are fighting this allegation to the furthest extent.

As the original inventor of the modular suspended pavement tree planting system, GreenBlue Urban developed the world’s first commercial soil cell for urban tree planting in 2000, with DeepRoot’s Silva Cell coming to market four years later in 2004.

The case is DeepRoot Green Infrastructure, LLC and DeepRoot Canada Corp. v. GreenBlue Urban North America Inc – Case No. T-954-18 (Federal Court of Canada).
