GM Voices Completes English Localization Work for Russian Film “The Iron Ivan”
Voice-Overs and Overdubbing of 13,000 Words with Five Core Roles; Movie Based on Famed Russian Wrestler Available Soon on Amazon Streaming in the United States and United Kingdom
ALPHARETTA, Ga. (PRWEB) March 28, 2018
GM Voices, a global provider of voice-over and post-production services for technology applications, marketing and learning multimedia, and film and video productions, today announced the completion of localization work for the English adaptation of the Russian feature film “Poddubny,” retitled “The Iron Ivan” for English-speaking markets. The film’s language localization, which included dozens of hours of principal voice recording, and many more of phrase-synced overdubbing, details the life of celebrated Soviet strongman, Ivan Poddubny, as he rises from carnival performer to national hero.
The project originated from a creative collaboration between GM Voices and Synergetic Distribution, a film distributor specializing in European productions for release in English language markets. From a translated script of 13,000 words, GM Voices leveraged its roster of contracted voice actors to cast English counterparts for five primary roles and many smaller parts, screening the subtitled film several times to identify the best performers for each character. Not only did the voice actors have to deliver voice-overs fitting the spirit of the live-action performances, they also had to closely match the speed and mouth movement of the original actors, a detailed process that tested their vocal chords, patience, and endurance.
While a subtitled version of “The Iron Ivan” is available for streaming in America, an overdubbed version will increase its visibility and open the door for broader distribution in English-speaking markets. For production and post-production companies, the film announces GM Voices as a strategic resource for voice-over and language work, helping films find audiences in new countries and territories.
“The work GM Voices did on ‘The Iron Ivan’ was truly top notch,” said Anatol Chavez, Director of Acquisitions at Synergetic Distribution. “As we grow our film catalogue, we’ll continue to engage GM Voices as localization and dubbing needs arise.”
“GM Voices has been a trusted partner to the Fortune 1000 for many years, handling voice recordings for telephony systems, in-car applications, mobile apps, marketing videos, and much more,” said Marcus Graham, Founder and CEO. “Now, we’re excited to prove our value with highly-creative, actor-driven projects, and with our international language expertise proven in the business community, we know we’re ready to help film producers and video production companies get traction from their great work all over the world.”
The English-overdubbed “The Iron Ivan” will be available soon to stream on the U.S. and U.K. versions of Amazon, with additional streaming outlets coming later.
