operateIT announced today that it has launched an industry-owned technology services firm co-founded by Ken Peterson CKD and Keith Tobias. "Nearly two dozen kitchen and bath professionals felt that our management software was so critical to improving the efficiency, growth, and profitability of their dealer operations that they each made substantial investments to become equity partners in this venture," said Peterson.
The comprehensive management software was originally developed collaboratively over the last several years for the SEN Design Group by a team that Tobias headed. Early last fall, the Network Management System (NMS) debuted exclusively with the SEN membership as a private-label product. A generic version, CompuTool Connect, is being made available to the entire kitchen/bath and remodeling industries effective in early 2016.
Peterson and Tobias assembled a consortium of kitchen and bath owners who pledged enough in funds over the summer to complete an outright acquisition of the CompuTool Connect intellectual property. "We were surprised by how fast the pledges were coming in," commented Tobias. "Clearly, these professionals wanted greater automation to run their operations, and witnessed firsthand how well the initial CompuTool Connect software offering satisfied that need." operateIT plans this fall to add some additional modules, including project scheduling and management, as well as offer white glove implementation services to make it quick and easy for dealers to gain the many benefits of automation.
The platform is uniquely designed so all parties in the industry's eco-system - dealers, distributors, and manufacturers - can participate and speed up their respective revenue growth. Indeed, the co-founders have already lined up a number of manufacturer marketing partners to commence advertising on the software platform. These early adopters "rent" a product category where their product occupies a premier position just at a time when dealers and designers are either budgeting, estimating, or making selections. Additional key benefits include unmatched analytics for forecasting purposes and direct messaging to customers for such things as product specials or new introductions.
The inclusion of a major channel partner, forecasted for the first half of 2016, will make this ground-breaking management system available to several thousand more dealer/designers. "It's been more than 30 years since CAD was introduced to speed up the design of kitchens," commented Peterson. "Now there is CompuTool Connect to speed up the sale, ordering, scheduling, and production of kitchens and baths, a program that the entire industry should be able to rally behind in support."
