Stroke Health Care Expert, Laurie Paletz Joins Board of Advisors of Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety

Stroke health care expert Laurie Paletz, BSN, PHN, RN-BC, SCRN (Stroke Program Coordinator, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center) joins the Board of Advisors of the Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety (PPAHS).

Stroke health care expert Laurie Paletz, BSN, PHN, RN-BC, SCRN (Stroke Program Coordinator, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center) joins the Board of Advisors of the Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety (PPAHS).

Ms. Paletz is the coordinator of the Cedars-Sinai Stroke Program. A practicing registered nurse for more than 30 years, she is responsible for developing educational programs and stroke competencies for educating staff, patients and their families about their stroke, risk factors, and secondary stroke prevention. Ms. Paletz is a member of the Scientific Stroke Council of the American Stroke Association. She is a board certified stroke nurse.

?Assessing and treating stroke patients should be done in as short a period of time as possible,? recommends Ms. Paletz. ?Delays in evaluation and initiation of therapy should be avoided because the opportunity for improvement in health outcomes is greater with earlier treatment. This not only means having a collaborative team effort, but looking at anything that might shorten door-to-treatment times.?

?Ms. Paletz is a tireless advocate for improved care of stroke patients,? said Michael Wong, JD (Executive Director, PPAHS). ?As a key member on the panel of renowned stroke experts, her perspective as a stroke coordinator was invaluable in developing the Stroke VTE Safety Recommendations.?
