The Montreal Biodome and the Samares School Board are receiving international awards from the Association of Energy Engineers for exceptional energy efficiency upgrades in their buildings. These two projects were designed and delivered by Ecosystem, a company specialized in energy performance.
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 30, 2015
The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) will present the awards to representatives of the Biodôme and the Samares School Board during the 2015 World Energy Engineering Congress in Orlando, Florida on September 30th.
The Montreal Biodôme is receiving the prestigious International Energy Project of the Year award. The project features a heat recovery system and an innovative open-loop geothermal system?one of the largest of its kind in Canada?which are meeting 100% of the Biodôme's heating and cooling needs. The project performed above and beyond initial expectations, surpassing savings targets by 39%. The Biodôme project is described in further detail in the following video: https://youtu.be/b9igC9FuqQo
The Samares School Board is the recipient of an Institutional Energy Management award, recognizing the school board as a pioneering leader in energy efficiency and sustainable development. In four project phases, Ecosystem upgraded 80 different schools, which substantially reduced the school board's energy bills. Greenhouse gas emissions were cut by nearly 5,000 metric tons per year and oil consumption was completely eliminated.
International Recognition of Ecosystem's Expertise
These two awards honor projects that were designed and implemented by Ecosystem using an integrated approach, wherein Ecosystem's multidisciplinary project team collaborates directly with client stakeholders. This close partnership led to exceptional results at the Biodôme and the Samares School Board. Customized energy efficiency measures were developed by analyzing the buildings and their operating characteristics as a whole. Ecosystem provided guarantees for construction costs, savings, and systems operability. Ecosystem's compensation is directly tied to project performance, compelling the company to meet or surpass client goals. Ecosystem's business model, based on alignment of interests, is described in detail at http://www.ecosystem-energy.com.
The Association of Energy Engineers had previously awarded two prizes, in 2013 and 2014, for a project implemented by Ecosystem at a hospital in New York (Beth Israel Brooklyn). With the addition of two new awards in 2015, Ecosystem's innovative approach to energy performance has once again been recognized by a leading authority in the energy efficiency sector.
About Ecosystem
Ecosystem is an award-winning, independent design-build firm offering turnkey construction and retrofit projects in Canada and the U.S. Our projects are focused on meeting our clients? specific goals: improved energy efficiency in buildings, increased productivity for industrial processes, value-added asset renewal, and green energy production.
We design and deliver high-performance infrastructures for clients in the institutional, commercial, municipal, industrial, and real estate sectors. For each of our projects, we contractually guarantee that the results will be delivered.
Ecosystem acts as the design-builder for each project. Our multidisciplinary project staff provides comprehensive services including engineering, construction management, equipment optimization, technical training, and performance monitoring. Our dedicated team of incentives specialists ensure that maximum grants and subsidies are received, and these funds are backed by Ecosystem?s contractual guarantees.
Our client stakeholders are fully integrated into our project teams, a highly collaborative approach that optimizes results, creates more value for the client, and maximizes efficiencies. Our projects remain agile and adaptive throughout all project phases to respond to change and be continually optimized.
We approach energy infrastructures as an integrated whole, studying all systems to see how they interact and how they could operate at peak performance. This ?deeper? approach generates significantly higher savings and long-term value, and provides attractive opportunities to renew critical assets and improve indoor environments.
Founded in 1993, our company now has 150 employees based in Quebec City, New York, Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary. Our unique business model has generated exceptional results, and we are honored to have received numerous awards including the 2013 ASHRAE Technology Award and the 2013 & 2014 Energy Project of the Year Awards from the Association of Energy Engineers.
