Urgent Care Leaders Gather in New Orleans for Annual Meeting

New Orleans, La. (PRWEB) September 24, 2015

As consumers everywhere face a growing need for convenient, affordable and quality healthcare, the urgent care industry continues to experience rapid growth and innovation. Today, the Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA) brings together industry insiders from around the country for its annual Fall Conference ? expected to be the association?s largest fall gathering to date ? to discuss the expansion and evolution of urgent care centers, and the industry?s growth among health systems.

?As the healthcare industry shifts to value-based care that emphasizes lower cost and higher quality, health systems are embracing the patient-centric nature of urgent care and the affordability it can provide,? said Dr. Robert Kimball, president of the board of directors for UCAOA. ?Urgent care has proven to be a sound investment in this new healthcare landscape, and the tools we provide to our members at the Fall Conference will help them continue adapting to best serve our growing number of patients.?

A link between the emergency room and primary care, urgent care is helping the healthcare industry keep up with the demands of an increasing number of patients. According to the latest UCAOA Benchmarking Survey, released in late 2014, hospital ownership of urgent care centers has jumped considerably ? from 13 percent in 2011 to 25 percent in 2013 ? as urgent care is identified as a key component to a hospital and health system ambulatory care strategy.

The 2015 Urgent Care Fall Conference is held through Sept. 26 at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel and is attended by physicians, advanced practice clinicians, business professionals, UCAOA leadership and industry representatives from across the country.
