Rain no match for shoppers in Westbury

Doors open at the Westbury Best Buy. (Nov. 26, 2010)
The rain was no deterrent for shoppers who came equipped with tents, umbrellas, chairs and, in one cases, a turkey dinner.
"We do it as a family," said Jessica Viteri, 32, a graduate student at Hofstra University's journalism program who camped outside of the Westbury Best Buy with four family members and a friend. "Some people sit around the table, we have a tent."
The line outside of Best Buy snaked around the store continuing far down the road. Shoppers said they were willing to wait in the rain because of the deals on laptops and television sets. But some said they weren't even sure what was on sale and they came out to have some fun.
Moments before opening, manager Peter Conway revved up his blue-shirted team.
"We have more product than we ever have," Conway said. "Let's rock and roll."
