Apple has released FaceTime for Mac in the Mac App Store. The video conferencing app has been popular among iPhone users, as it allows free iPhone-to-iPhone video calls over a Wifi network.
Using the desktop app, Mac users can now place video calls to users with another mac, an iPhone 4, or iPod Touch. Also, it is widely believed the iPad 2, set to be announced next week, will also have FaceTime capabilities.
The new MacBook Pro units announced today will come equipped with FaceTime HD webcams capable of 720p video calls.
The FaceTime app for iOS devices (iPod Touch, iPhone) is free, but the Mac version of the app will cost $0.99 on the Mac App Store.
