BOARD APPOINTMENTS
Patricia Pryor-Bonica was elected chair of the Family & Children's Association's board of trustees. The Bayville resident is founder and president of Pryor Personnel Agency.
Salvatore J. Armao has been appointed to the board of directors at the Garden City Chamber of Commerce. The Howard Beach resident is a partner at the Garden City accounting firm of Armao, Costa & Ricciardi.
EDUCATION
Ernest Patrick Smith has joined the faculty of Hofstra University as an adjunct professor of accounting in the Zarb School of Business. The Blue Point resident is a senior partner in the Melville law firm of Nawrocki Smith.
The Long Island University at Riverhead has made the following announcements: John Brush has been appointed assistant professor and director of liberal arts education. The Mattituck resident teaches two writing classes and a film theory class at the university; Kevin Litchhult has joined the organization as an admissions counselor. He is completing his master's degree in homeland security management at the university and lives in Mattituck; Andrea Borra was promoted to director of admissions from the position of admissions counselor and student services assistant. She is a Manorville resident.
HEALTH CARE
Dr. Dina El Kady has joined the medical staff at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson. A resident of East Northport, she is a subspecialist in maternal fetal medicine and also serves as director of the center for maternal fetal medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.
INSURANCE
Monica Williams has been promoted to sales administrative leader for the Allstate Insurance Co. New York State region. The Springfield Gardens resident was market sales leader for Queens and Long Island.
LAW
Gale D. Berg has been named director of pro bono attorney activities at the Nassau County Bar Association. She will focus on the organization's efforts to help residents facing mortgage foreclosure issues. The Port Washington resident has her own law firm.

NONPROFIT
Mineola-based Island Harvest, Long Island's largest hunger relief organization, has hired Dorian Stern as manager of business development. She was director of development at the Cinema Arts Centre, and lives in Huntington. And the organization has named Nicole Christensen as director of outreach and member services. The Freeport resident was director of the food access department at FoodChange, a New York City organization dedicated to ending food poverty.
