Mitchell J. Birzon was appointed to the New York State Bar Association'sTask Force on the Future of the Legal Profession. He is a managing partner at the Smithtown law firm of Birzon, Strang & Associates and lives in Old Field

Maria Stupnikov was appointed to the Industry Advisory Board of the Academy of Information Technology and Engineering at Northport High School. Stupnikov lives in Northport and attends Stony Brook University, where she is studying cellular and molecular biomedical engineering. 

Robert M. Harper was appointed vice chair of the governmental relations and legislation committee within the trusts and estates law section of the New York State Bar Association. He is an associate at the Uniondale law firm of Farrell Fritz and lives in Garden City.

Columbian Lawyers Association of Nassau County, a legal and professional organization that focuses on enhancing and increasing awareness of Italian-American culture, announced new officers. Mary P. Giordano was elected president. She is a shareholder in the Garden City law firm of Franchina & Giordano and lives in Port Washington. Phil Rizzuto was elected first vice president. He is an East Setauket resident and a member of Philip J. Rizzuto,  a Carle Place law firm.

Gregory Pond joined the adjunct professor staff at St. John University'sTobin College of Business. The Port Washington resident is a partner at Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman in East Meadow.

Eric Howell was named design engineer at Audio Unlimited in Hicksville. The Huntington resident was an acoustical consultant with SH Acoustics in Milford, Conn.

Erica Mileo joined Arbor Commercial Mortgage in Uniondale as director, conferences and trade shows. She was marketing manager at Manhattan-based McGraw-Hill Construction, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies

HEALTH CARE
John Gupta of Roslyn was named president and chief executive at Interfaith Medical Center, a Brooklyn health care system. He was chief executive at St. John's Episcopal Hospital-South Shore in Far Rockaway

Michael J. Stacchini was promoted to partner from senior associate at Vishnick McGovern Milizio in Lake Success. He lives in Franklin Square

NONPROFIT
David J. Mahler was named vessel examiner of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 13-11 covering Nassau County. He will hold the office of flotilla human resources officer concurrently. The Bellmore resident is retired from the technology industry. 

REAL ESTATE
Meryl Feuer of East Meadow joined Homes by Mara in Syosset as a real estate broker. She was an associate broker at Keller Williams Realty in Carle Place. 

TECHNOLOGY
Pierre Bouchard was appointed chief technology officer at myVRM, a scheduling software company in Hicksville. He was chief technologist at Citco in Jersey City and lives in Oyster Bay Cove

PUBLIC RELATIONS
David Guayasamin was named senior consultant at Parallel Communications Group in Baldwin. The Buffalo resident was a senior marketing professional for Sprint in Kansas City, Mo.
