 HEALTH CARE 
 Winthrop-University Hospital in <a href="/topics/Mineola%2C_NY">Mineola</a> announced two appointments in its division of pulmonary and critical care medicine. 
 Dr. Shilpa DeSouza has been named medical director of the pulmonary <a href="/topics/High_Blood_Pressure">hypertension</a> center. She joins Winthrop following the completion of a fellowship in pulmonary vascular disease at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Dr. DeSouza lives in <a href="/topics/Mineola%2C_NY">Mineola</a>. 
 Dr. Joseph Mathew has been named medical director of the respiratory care department. The <a href="/topics/Queens_Village%2C_NY">Queens Village</a> resident assumed this position following his completion of a fellowship in pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan.
