Long Island homes featured in new Town & Country book
Several Long Island homes are featured in the book “At Home with Town & Country” (Hearst, $60).
Designer Steven Holl created a contemporary cedar-clad home in Water Mill. The kitchen boasts subtly tinted concrete floors and counter tops, white oak cabinets and stainless steel appliances. An east-facing wall in the kitchen opens into a small screen porch, acting as a quaint eating nook.
In Amagansett, designer James D’Auria created a barn-like house for him and his family. A main feature is a stone terrace.
In Bellport, designer Thomas O’Brien created a kitchen with details reminiscent of its past as a turn-of-the-century schoolhouse.
And designer Annabelle Selldorf used special glass tile for the bathroom and stone on the first floor and wood on the second floor of her 4,500-square-foot Hamptons retreat.
The book showcases 30 distinct homes with both creative and innovative design and architecture. It allows readers to catch a glimpse of homes ranging from urban to rural dwellings. The book also features expert advice for those thinking to update or revamp their own living space.
