Snap up Billy Joel's Sagaponack house at a $3.5M discount
The oceanfront home owned by musician Billy Joel is for sale now priced at $19.95 million.
Billy Joel is in a new Realtor state of mind.
The entertainer, who has been playing sold-out shows each month since the beginning of the year at Madison Square Garden, recently re-listed his oceanfront Sagaponack home with a new agent, Nancy Mizrahi of Saunders, for $19.95 million. The 5,550-square-foot house, on 145 feet of sandy beach, had been on the market with Biana Stepanian of The Corcoran Group for $23.5 million.
This is the third time Joel has put the home on the market. He first tried to sell it in 2009 for $22.5 million, and later cut the price to $16.75 million.
The home has been redecorated a bit, and the listing photos show refinished hardwood floors in the kitchen and living room.
The cedar-shingled home was built for actor Roy Scheider in 1994, according to the listing, and he raised his family there before Joel bought the home in 2007. Joel’s ex-wife, cookbook author Katie Lee, did a renovation with celebrity TV designer Nate Berkus, installing a chef’s kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances and a butler's pantry with a secondary Wolf range. The four en-suite bedrooms are located on the first floor, while the kitchen, dining and living rooms are on the upper level, which has an A-frame ceiling with exposed beams that maximize ocean views.
The property is protected from beach erosion by an extensive beach re-nourishment project that was completed in the spring, according to the listing. An oceanfront pool permit is in place.
Joel also owns properties in Centre Island, Sag Harbor and Huntington Bay.
