A number of well-known actors, musicians and athletes spent time in the Army, Air Force and Marines at some point in their lives.

The iconic baseball player took a break from playing for the New York Yankees to serve in the Air Force during World War II. He enlisted in 1943.
Jackie Robinson

The iconic MLB player was drafted into the Army in 1942. He was promoted to second lieutenant in 1943 before becoming a platoon leader in 1944. That same year, he refused to move to the back of a military bus and was later court-martialed for the incident. Robinson was acquitted of the charges before being honorably discharged in 1944.
