The shows must go on

Blizzard, schmizzard. Fashion folks are a rugged lot and ironically enough, on day two of New York Fashion Week, runways were bursting with tough stuff. Jason Wu returned to his feminine roots, but emphasized strong shoulders for his formidable customers, while Carmen Marc Valvo's dark, moody confections could as easily go to the Grammys as they could to the opera and Kenneth Cole sent urban warriors down the runway in layers, not armor. -- Anne Bratskeir, Joseph V. Amodio and Nina Ruggiero

JASON WU Luxe lady power dressing -- a familiar subject (hellooo Mrs. O)

CARMEN MARC VALVO Dark, glam statement-makers without a whiff of the frou-frou.

EDUN Classics revamped -- tweeds and tartans become serious rock-star chic.

KENNETH COLE Better and badder (sexy metallics, leather, open-toe boots) than ever.

PROJECT RUNWAY A little storm wouldn't keep these designer wannabes from Fashion Week.
