George Clooney's former girlfriend, model and TV personality Elisabetta Canalis confided to a European magazine her history of picking the wrong men.

"I'm looking for men who can give me security," Canalis, one of this season's "Dancing With the Stars" contestants, told the Italian gossip magazine Chi ("Who"), according to Us Weekly. "I have always seen cold and controlled men as the right ones for me," she said. "You have to accept that Prince Charming who is coming to save you is not going to happen -- it works against you." She added, "I'm a bit of a tomboy, but when it comes to love I am a doormat."

Canalis, 32, began dating Clooney, 50, two years ago. Sometime after they broke up in June, he began dating model-actress Stacy Keibler, 31, a former NFL cheerleader, WWE wrestler and "Dancing" contestant herself.

As for Canalis' romantic prospects, she stressed to E! News she's in no way involved with her "Dancing" dance-pro partner, Val Chmerkovskiy (brother of the show's Maksim Chmerkovskiy).

"This question really makes me laugh," she said. "Val really is very focused on what we are doing. He's not focusing on anything else. . . . He's a tough Russian guy." She's dating no one, she added. "I live alone with my two dogs in my apartment and I'm super happy. I'm a very independent person. I love living alone."

Which doesn't mean her breakup with Clooney was easy. "The end of a relationship is complicated," she told Chi. "At the end of the day, I have always seen the end of my relationships as a personal failure. There is nothing ever pretty in saying goodbye."
