Last summer was a little bit country, and it looks like next summer is going to be a little bit rock and roll. Seventies icon Donny Osmond is bringing his "Crazy Horses Tour" to LIU Post’s Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in Brookville on July 29, marking his first Long Island concert in over a decade.
"I’ve been working on a brand-new version of ‘Crazy Horses,’ and I was so excited to share it with you all," Osmond, 68, wrote on Instagram. "I can’t wait for you all to see this one!"
Osmond has performed several times on Long Island, including a 1972 show at Nassau Coliseum with his siblings. His last date here was at The Paramount in Huntington in 2016.
Initially, Osmond won America’s hearts as the teen heartthrob lead singer of The Osmonds, a family pop quintet from Utah that churned out hits like "One Bad Apple," "Down by the Lazy River" and "Crazy Horses." He launched a solo career in 1971 at 13 with the singles "Sweet and Innocent" and "Go Away Little Girl," the latter of which reached the top of the Billboard charts. His signature song, "Puppy Love," followed in 1972, reaching No. 3. As he grew older, Osmond paired with his sister, Marie, for the popular variety show "Donny & Marie" from 1976 to 1979.
In 1989, Osmond made a comeback in the music scene after a 12-year absence with his self-titled album, "Donny Osmond," which spawned two hits — "Soldier of Love" (No. 2) and "Sacred Emotion" (No. 13).
For his upcoming 90-minute show, Osmond will perform his hits, share show-biz stories and introduce new music. Additionally, the crowd will get a Broadway-style production of "I'll Make a Man Out of You," his song from Disney’s 1998 animated classic "Mulan." The concert will also include an interactive segment where audience members can request any song Osmond has ever recorded.
Tickets, which start at $79.50, go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. via ticketmaster.com. Presale began at 9 a.m. Wednesday, followed by an artist presale at 1 p.m. For more information, visit donny.com.
