Money, fame and success are no guarantees of happiness. You'd think so, but no. In 2010, a host of actors, singers, socialites and others found themselves arrested on, largely, drug and alcohol charges, including many driving while intoxicated charges. Here are some of the more notable cases, running the gamut from nostalgic former favorites to wildly popular stars.
The "Mean Girls" star, 24, has been through a legal labyrinth this year, with a plethora of bench warrants, bond postings, probation revocations, jail time and court-ordered drug and alcohol rehab scheduled to run through Monday.
GARY COLEMAN
The troubled child star of the 1978-86 sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes," who found himself working odd jobs and living in Utah with his ex-wife, Shannon Price, was arrested Jan. 24 on a domestic violence warrant. Released on bail - posted by a fan - the following day. Coleman died May 28 at age 42, after a fall at home.
HEATHER LOCKLEAR
A BMW belonging to one-time "Melrose Place" ingénue Locklear, 49, allegedly ran over a stop sign in Westlake Village, Calif., on April 17, leading to the actress' arrest four days later. Charges were dropped a month later because of what the prosecutor called "insufficient evidence" to determine who was driving.
RIP TORN
On Jan. 29, the character-actor, 79, drunkenly broke into a Litchfield Bancorp bank in Connecticut, carrying a loaded revolver. He pleaded guilty, and on Tuesday was given a 2 1/2-year suspended sentence, 3 years of probation, a ban on firearm possession and random drug and alcohol tests.
VINCE NEIL
One of the few high-profile musicians to run afoul of the law this year, the Motley Crüe frontman, 49, was arrested June 28 in Las Vegas on suspicion of drunken driving. In 1984, he was famously convicted of vehicular manslaughter for a drunken-driving accident that killed Hanoi Rocks drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley.
NICOLE "SNOOKI" POLIZZI
Technically, the "Jersey Shore" reality starlet's arrest July 30 in Seaside Heights, N.J., was for disorderly conduct. But basically, it was for making a drunken spectacle of herself. As Judge Damien Murray scolded her, "You seem to be acting like a Lindsay Lohan wannabe in this matter, going through life rude, profane, obnoxious and self-indulgent."
T.I.
The initials for rapper T.I. could now stand for "Twice Incarcerated" (and that's just this year). After having been released from prison in March following a 2007 conviction on firearms charges, T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., then got arrested in September for drug possession - a violation of probation that got him sentenced to 11 more months behind bars.
DAVID CASSIDY
And a Partridge in a St. Lucie . . . jail. The '70s singer-actor from TV's "The Partridge Family" was arrested on Florida's Turnpike Nov. 3 on a DWI charge, having been found with what police called an "approximately half empty" bottle of bourbon "in the back seat floorboard . . . with access by the defendant."
PARIS HILTON
It's not up there with "I have a dream," but socialite Hilton, 29, did give us one of 2010's best quotes when Las Vegas police found a packet of cocaine in her bag Aug. 27: "I thought it was gum." She pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges, paid a fine and did community service.
RANDY AND EVI QUAID
Though not exactly Bonnie and Clyde - the couple's alleged residential burglary seemed to stem from confused thinking - actor Quaid, 60, and his wife fled to Canada after their September arrest. The two were no-shows at a hearing in Santa Barbara Superior Court on Tuesday.
