Pro wrestling legend Hulk Hogan spoke publicly Tuesday for the first time about the six-year-old sex tape that surfaced in March and was leaked online last week.

"I had no idea there was a camera in the room," he said on NBC's "Today." "I'm not making excuses -- I'm accountable, I was the guy, I was there, I made the choice. It was at a really low point in my life when I was in a previous marriage when things were bottomed out completely. And I was with some friends, I made a wrong choice and now all of a sudden it surfaces over six years later and it's just appalling."

Hogan, 59, who now serves as general manager of Impact Wrestling, married his second wife, Jennifer McDaniel, in December 2010.

The wrestler, whose real name is Terry Bollea, later said on Howard Stern's radio show that the woman in the video is Heather Clem, the wife of his close friend, radio host Bubba the Love Sponge (who was born Todd Clem and legally changed his name to that trademark in 1999).

Hogan also told Stern he was married to but separated from first wife Linda Hogan at the time, and blamed what he described as her verbal and emotional abusiveness as factors in his straying. The couple married in 1983, and she filed for divorce in November 2007.

Linda Hogan's attorney, Raymond Rafool, told, "It is a shame that Hulk Hogan tries to deflect his immorality with false allegations that Linda verbally and emotionally abused him. Linda Hogan never abused Hulk Hogan -- verbally, mentally or otherwise."
