'Jersey Shore' cast member won't face Fla. charges

Florida prosecutors won't file charges against a cast member of MTV's "Jersey Shore" who allegedly punched another woman at a South Beach nightclub.

Miami-Dade County prosecutors said Wednesday they won't charge Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola. A woman had accused Giancola of punching her in the face May 8.

Prosecutors said a battery may have occurred, but it's their policy not to file misdemeanor charges against suspects who are no longer in the county. Giancola has returned to New York.

Prosecutors said the case is closed, but could be reopened if Giancola returns to the Miami-area.

Giancola's Atlantic City, N.J.-based attorney, James Leonard Jr., says his client doesn't plan on returning to Florida.
