Kylie Jenner says she likes dad Caitlyn 'better than Bruce'

Reality TV star Kylie Jenner, youngest child of transgender parent Caitlyn Jenner, says she prefers Caitlyn to Bruce, the former identity of the Olympic champion whose assigned birth gender was male.

"I like her better than Bruce," the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star, 18, said in a prerecorded episode that aired Monday on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." "Because," she explained, "we talk about makeup and clothes, we bond a lot more; but not only that, I feel like there's not a huge secret in the family. I feel like there was always this big secret."

She and her older sister Kendall, 20, had had inklings of their father's gender dysphoria -- the feeling that a person's gender at birth is contrary to the one they identify with -- "for a really long time," she added. "We actually caught him . . . dressing up as a girl, when my sister and I were, like, 6 and 7 maybe. So we've known for a while that there was something, but it was never talked about."

Among other hints, Kylie Jenner told DeGeneres, "I'd be with my girlfriends sometimes and he then would come in and be, like, 'What are you guys talking about?' and kind of joke around and I knew there was something. But now it's just . . . I feel like we hang out a lot more. . . . Like, she's really living her authentic, true self. And I feel like that's awesome."

Jenner said she hoped she could "be someone from my generation to, like, be an example [of acceptance], because I think that's so awesome and I think that other girls and boys my age will maybe see that I'm so accepting and be accepting of other people, too."

Ultimately, Kylie Jenner said, Caitlyn is "the same exact person -- she just looks different."
