Larry King files for divorce

Larry King is ending his eighth marriage. The broadcasting legend, 76, filed for divorce in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences, according to court papers.

King married Shawn Southwick King, 50, in 1997, and has two children, Chance, 11, and Cannon, 9, with her. She was King's seventh wife, as he twice married and divorced former Playboy bunny Alene Akins.

King's spokesman, Howard Rubenstein, confirmed the filing, and told People magazine, "His major concern is the welfare of his children, and beyond that he's not going to comment about the divorce." The magazine reported King is asking the court to deny Southwick King spousal support.

King has three adult children from previous relationships. He has a daughter Chaia and son Andy with Akins and son Larry Jr. with Annette Kaye.

TMZ.com, which first reported the divorce, cited anonymous sources who said the filing came after a loud argument at the couple's Beverly Hills home amid allegations of infidelity. The site reported that sources said King was having an affair with one of his wife's close relatives.

In a February video posted on TMZ.com, the couple, outside a movie theater, allude to personal problems. When asked how they are, Southwick King waves her hand ambivalently and says, "Ehhh," while King tells the cameraman, "Hanging by a thread."

When the cameraman says, "You guys are one of the happiest couples I know," both laugh and Southwick King says, "That's not good."
