Marc Anthony files to divorce Jennifer Lopez

Under his formal name of Marc Muniz, the singer and producer Marc Anthony filed for divorce from Jennifer Lopez, his wife of seven years. The two had announced their separation in July.
In a Monday filing with Los Angeles Superior Court, Anthony, 43, cited irreconcilable differences with Lopez, 42, listed as Jennifer Muniz. The documents, signed on April 6, ask for joint legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old twins, Maximilian David and Emme Meribel.
Stating "property rights to be determined," the document notes that Anthony "has not yet determined the full nature and extent of his separate property assets and debts." The couple's homes include an estate in Brookville.
A representative for Lopez, who released her album "Love?" last year to tepid critical and commercial response, told People magazine the pop star would have no comment.
This was Lopez's third marriage, and Anthony's second. Lopez, who is in her second season as a judge on "American Idol," has begun a relationship with backup dancer Casper Smart, 24, while Anthony began dating Venezuelan model Shannon De Lima, also 24, in January, according to Us Weekly.
Anthony and Lopez have maintained a professional connection, working together on their Latin American talent show, "¡Q'Viva! The Chosen," on Fox.
No court date has been set for the divorce proceedings.
