ISLANDISTA FASHIONISTA. "Counter-couture" designer Garo Sparo, who was born in West Islip and raised there through middle school, helps clients make "fashion declarations" in Sundance Channel's "Unleashed by Garo," premiering Friday at 9 p.m. The Sundance Channel is owned by Cablevision, which also owns Newsday. "I have fond memories of days spent on the beach at Robert Moses [State Park], and walking through the Sunken Forest on Fire Island," he tells Newsday. "The beaches of Long Island are beautiful and growing up I was greatly inspired by ocean life near the shore." His fondest memory of life on the South Shore, where he still has extended family, was apprenticing at age 11 "with Native American costumer Nat Sales, which played a part in the foundation of my career and influences me to this day."

PREMIERES. After Russell Armstrong's tragic suicide and much hand-wringing, season two of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" remains scheduled to premiere tonight at 9 p.m. on Bravo . . . Season four of the network's "The Rachel Zoe Project" premieres tomorrow at 10 p.m. . . . Syfy bows "Paranormal Witness," with real-life claims of supernatural encounters, Wednesday night at 10 . . . and Dina Manzo of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" gets to play party planner on HGTV's "Dina's Party," debuting Saturday at 10 p.m.
