Melissa Etheridge's partner of nine years, Tammy Lynn Michaels, has struck back in their increasingly bitter split, just a day after Etheridge filed to formally end their partnership.

Michaels, 35 - the biological mother to the couple's two children, son Miller and daughter Johnnie, both 3 - took to her blog Saturday to express her shock at Etheridge's filing.

In a post she titled "blindsiding," Michaels wrote, "gentle waves / no noise for awhile / or maybe gentle voices and / SMACK!!!!!!!!!!!! / FILE FOR DIVORCE!!!!!! / even though we both promised / agreed / handshook / pinkyswore / no filing until after the tour / in the fall."

But it isn't just the timing of the filing that upsets Michaels.

"Her broken promises / told to me by / headlines / i'm raising the kids / doing what i can / second set of yours," Michaels wrote.

Etheridge cited irreconcilable differences in her filing Friday, and asked the court not to award Michaels financial support.

"Could you stop blind sighting [sic] me?" Michaels wrote. "Unless it's another art form you're working on / have a good concert."

In an earlier post on Saturday, Michaels detailed how she put aside her acting career to become a stay-at-home mother. "[T]he only thing i hated about it was not bringing in money," she wrote.

In the wake of Etheridge's filing, Michaels wrote, "i know she doesn't want to give me money. trust. i'm borrowing cash left and right from people to get through this summer, and feed my kids . . . "
